Dr William Turnbull (1794–1876), native of Roxburghshire, Scotland who settled in Huddersfield about 1814 after obtaining his medical degree from Edinburgh University. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Huddersfield Infirmary where he served as Chief Physician until his death in 1876.
