Description: 1882 O/S Flush, VAM 3, Top 100 Morgan Silver Dollar. Early die state ("EDS") specimen of O over S flush mint mark with doubled 82, open 2, over polished jaw and neck, and small dots of metal on eagle and wreath bow. Original San Francisco S mint mark die was converted to O mint mark by New Orleans Mint. This is a Top 100 Morgan VAM with a Popularity Factor of 10. The EDS specimens are much more rare and desirable than the late die states. Obverse - Second 8 in date is doubled on left outside of upper loop and bottom outside of lower loop. Open 2 in date is doubled on right outside of lower loop. Area around jaw, neck, engraver's M, and lower hair is over polished. Polishing lines and partial bar inside ear and lines outside ear. Distinctive die scratches and gouges in hair below ear. Vertical die gouge near cap band and hair. Reverse - Early die state O over S mint mark with very thin crossbar and a small barb at the top, both pointing downward to the right.
