Description: 1890’s Ed Spurney cabinet card. Identified on the back. Spurney was born and died in Cleveland Ohio. He attended the University of Michigan before playing pro baseball. Spurney played minor league ball in 1890 and 1891 in NY, Illinois and Iowa before making his MLB debut for Pittsburgh. In his 3 games there, Spurney was 2 for 9 with 2 walks. The Pirates were a poor hitting team in 1891, so it is unclear on his MLB demise. Spurney did get married in the 1890’s. Maybe leaving baseball was the only decision. Card is large size. Over 10 by 12 inch in size. Stains, toning and wear. Trimmed at the top. Some kind of mounting stain/remnants on the front top. Feel free to ask questions.
