Description: "These cares were issued as single by"Homogenized" Bond Bread in 1947, but their origins in 12-card boxed sets printed by Aarco Playing Card Co., Chicago, and sold as "Collectors & Traders Sports Stars Subjects." The Bond Bread cards are in the original format of 2-1/4" x 3-3/8" black-and-white cards printed on round-cornered blank-backed stock. The borderless fronts have portraits or posted action photos with the player name in facsimile autograph or script typography. At some point after the original Bond Bread issue, half of the cards were reprinted in a square-cornered 2-1/4" x 3-1/2" size on slightly different stock, for purposes unknown. A large quantity of these 24 cards was found in a New York warehouse in the 1980s. To complicate the situation, the square-cornered cards were illegally counterfeited sometime after 2000, often sold in high-graded slabs by fraudulent grading companies. The issue was designated in the American Card Catalog as W571/D305." -Standard Catalog of Vintage Baseball Cards 6th Edition
