It is dated December 6, 1956. It pictures the world famous French Catholic Cardinal Richelieu, or Armand Jean du Plessis as he was born, on both sides. On the face it shows the "Palais Cardinal" in Paris. The personal residence of the Cardinal. The back has the Town Gate of Richelieu, the commune the Cardinal was also “Duke” of. Richelieu became the defacto ruler of France during the 1610-1643 reign of King Louis XIII. He was created Cardinal in 1622 and became "Chief Minister" in 1624, he served in that post until his death in 1642. One of his singular accomplishments was to send French Troops to fight against the Pope during the "Thirty Years War".
