Description: Handsome fold-out 1959 Esso road map of Ontario, printed more than 58 years ago. This map opens to 24" x 34" and has great detail on old highway alignments, with cartography by the General Drafting Company. There are inset plans of Toronto, Hamilton, Windsor, London, and Ottawa. The map was distributed by Imperial Oil Limited to promote its Esso brand. It is dated MCMLIX (1959) in the legend, and the stylized cover artwork shows a soldier in red jacket and kepi. Condition: It is in very good, lightly used condition, with a neat rubber-stamp imprint from an Esso service station in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, one tiny spot, and no rips or tears.
