The U.S. Air Force announced 3/16 that an American RB66 jet (similar to one shown in this file photo) had disappeared while on a high reconnaissance mission over the North Sea. The plane carried a pilot and two navigators. An Air Force spokesman said the RB66 had sent an emergency distress message shortly before contact with it had been lost.
