Description: Up for sale, a 1979 Gibson Les Paul Artisan in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. A unique spin on the 3-pickup Les Paul Custom platform, the Artisan features unique "banjo" (hearts and flowers) inlays, with a Pre-War-style script Gibson headstock inlay, and traditional tonewoods including a carved maple top, mahogany body, and a three-piece maple neck capped by a bound ebony fretboard. The Artisan also features multi-ply binding and gold hardware throughout. The neck and bridge position pickups are Gibson's unique Series VII humbuckers, essentially a ceramic magnet Dirty Fingers variant with only one set of adjustment screws. Just like a Tarback, the pickups have black epoxy applied to keep unwanted feedback to a minimum. These pickups are authoritative, clear, and powerful, cutting through with ample punch and pushing tube amps to the brink while also excelling at lightly compressed, round cleans. The middle pickup also has the "tarback" black epoxy, known as a Super Humbucker, and somewhat lower output than the other coils, offering a distinctive snappy cut in the middle pickup selection (Bridge, Bridge+ Middle, Neck switching). This Les Paul Artisan weighs 10lbs 7oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation. The maple neck is silky smooth, with prominent palm wear through the gloss on the profile shoulders. The back of the headstock is also stamped “Second," a common practice with late '70s Gibsons, sometimes due to a small (now imperceptible) finish flaw, and sometimes stamped as such just to move inventory at a discount. The original black tolex hardshell case with red plush interior is included. The case shows wear, with a silver Gibson silkscreen on the lid along with an additional band name (Phases).
