Description: This unique one-of-a-kind piece of “teredo”petrified wood was found in May 2024 near DFW airport by myself. I’ve recovered over 20 feet of the tree and it tells an amazing story. This wood was clearly sitting in the shallow coast of the Western Interior Seaway for quite some time, based on the pholad clams that borrowed into what used to be soft wood. A paleontologist with a deep knowledge of fossil clams at Texas A&M says he’s “never seen this occurrence before (screenshot of email attached).” Some calcite veins exist and show under UV light (UV photos shown, UV light NOT included with purchase). You can see the teardrop shaped clams borrowed into the wood. Calcite has replaced the clams and they glow brilliantly under UV. Cut with a wet saw on both sides, smooth, not polished. PLEASE REVIEW ALL PHOTOS. I include wet AND dry photos so you can see what it would look like polished. I am awaiting the process to conclude with polishing other pieces. Roughly 3.5” across, 1.5” tall. 12.4 ounces DFWFossils.com Shipping discounts are passed on for combined orders.
