Description: HI EVERYONE! IF YOU LOVE CLASSIC ROCK FROM THE 60's TO THE EARLY 90's AND ESPECIALLY ENJOYED THE DJ's THAT PRESENTED IT, YOU HAVE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE!ALL OF THAT TOGETHER MAKES THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JUST LISTENING AND ENJOYING THE HITS AND HEARING THAT SAME MUSIC IN A CLASSIC RARE RADIO SHOW WITH VALUED RARE INTERVIEWS WITH ROCK LEGENDS, MOST NO LONGER WITH US, AND IN DEPTH FEATURES.AND, HOW DO YOU DEFINE RARENESS??THERE WERE NO MORE THAN 175 LPS OR CDS PRESSED FOR EACH WEEKLY SYNDICATED RADIO SHOW. THIS REPRESENTED THE TOP 175 RADIO MARKETS IN THE COUNTRY AND ONLY ONE STATION IN EACH MARKET COULD AIR THE SHOW. STATIONS IN MARKETS BELOW THE TOP 175 (THERE ARE 306 MARKETS IN THE UNITED STATES) COULD ALSO AIR THE SHOW BUT HAD TO TAKE THE SATELLITE FEED OF THE SHOW FROM THE UNITED STATIONS RADIO NETWORK, THE DISTRIBUTOR OF THE SERIES)AND, DUE TO CONTRACTUAL LEGAL OBLIGATIONS, EACH RADIO STATION WAS ALLOWED TO AIR EACH SHOW EXACTLY ONCE AND NO MORE. SO, MOST RADIO STATIONS JUST DESTROYED THEM AFTER AIRING SINCE THEY WERE USELESS TO THE STATION AFTER AIRING DUE TO THEIR LEGAL CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATION TO THE SHOW SYNDICATOR. THERE IS NO TELLING HOW MANY OF EACH SHOW SURVIVED. WHO KNOWS - THIS COULD BE ONE OF THE ONLY ONES LEFT.WELCOME EVERYONE TO KEITH'S KOLLECTABLES, ONE OF EBAY'S PREMIERE BUYERS AND SELLERS OF PRISTINE RARE RADIO SHOWS OF ALL GENRES ALONG WITH OTHER GREAT VINTAGE AMERICANA. It comes on 2 cds in pristine condition. The cds are in beautiful like new condition. This is a very rare series and one of the best ever to air with classic rock as a theme. While similar in content to other popular classic rock radio shows such as Flashback, it differs in that each two hour show has one theme only throughout the show whether it is an artist or group theme, or a subject theme. All the music of each show relates directly to the theme. This is a big plus in its presentation.THE CLASSICS series first aired on cd,unlike many series that had their origins on lp or reel to reel tape. The show first aired as a special time limited series commemorating the end of the 20th century, in 1999 and was called ROCK OF THE CENTURY.THOSE FIRST YEAR WEEKLY SHOWS WERE HOSTED BY EDDIE WEBB AND WERE PRODUCED BY DENNY SUMACH PRODUCTIONS FOR UNITED STATIONS.THE SHOW AIRED WEEKLY ON UNITED STATIONS FOR TWO HOURS A SHOW.IT BECAME SO POPULAR THAT AT THE TURN OF THE NEW CENTURY IT WAS CONTINUED AND RENAMED THE CLASSICS.EDDIE WEBB HOSTED THE FIRST SEVERAL SHOWS OF THIS NEW SERIES BUT WAS SOON REPLACED BY STEVE DOWNES WHO HOSTED THE SHOW THROUGHOUT THE REST OF ITS HISTORY ON CD THROUGH 2009 AND SINCE, BY DIGITAL DOWNLOAD TO STATIONS ONLY.STEVE DOWNES IS BASED IN CHICAGO ON WDRV AND FOR YOU GAMERS, IS ALSO THE VOICE OF MASTER CHIEF IN HALO.EACH SHOW HAD A SPECIFIC THEME FOR THE ENTIRE TWO HOURS. AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH SHOW THERE WAS A THREE OR FOUR MINUTE INTRODUCTION BY STEVE DOWNES ABOUT THE THEME ALONG WITH SEVERAL INTERVIEW CLIPS AND SONG MONTAGES. THERE WERE MANY FASCINATING INTERVIEWS THROUGHOUT THE SHOW.THE THEME OF THE SHOW WAS EITHER AN ARTIST OR A GROUP IN WHICH CASE THE ENTIRE TWO HOURS IS DEVOTED TO THAT THEME, OR IF IT WAS A DIFFERENT THEME FOR EXAMPLE A PARTICULAR YEAR TRIBUTE, MANY SETS OF UP TO 20 MINUTES OR LONGER, WOULD BE DEVOTED TO A SINGLE ARTIST OR GROUP WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE SHOW THEME ALONG WITH INTERVIEWS AND STEVE'S COMMENTARY This show aired on April 25, 2005 and is show #05-18 THE TITLE OF THIS WEEK'S SPECIAL IS: THE CREAM REUNION SHOWShow contents can be seen on the pictured cue sheets and are in excellent condition.SO HERE ARE THE BIG QUESTIONS IF YOU DO NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT RADIO SHOWS: FIRST, WHAT IS A RADIO SHOW? WHY COLLECT THEM? WHERE DO THEY COME FROM? Well, those are good questions, especially if you have never known of them. First allow me tell you my own personal story of discovering the wonder of radio shows. I discovered radio shows quite by accident while reading one of my favorite (long since departed) magazines called "Discoveries" (It was later bought by the same company that publishes "Goldmine" which I personally always considered a lesser publication, but that is another story. This was before ebay became the driving force in radio show sales (and everything else) in the later 1990's. I was especially attracted in "Discoveries" to a two page (or more) spread in each issue by a guy called "The Old Hippie". Let me tell you, the Old Hippie had it all. He was a real pioneer. Way before anyone knew what radio shows even were let alone that they could be bought as rarities, he had the market cornered. Most shows that he advertised were way beyond my budget but I drooled over those pages every issue and once in awhile I could afford one or two. Now, I have attempted in my own humble way to take on the mantle of "The Old Hippie". I have listed over 11,000 unique radio shows so far of all genres for you all to drool over, and most at prices, hopefully, that collectors can better afford! I want to make available to collectors what I could not afford and especially in these days of higher prices and lesser availability.Radio shows are harder and harder to find in quantity and the prices for the ones still out there just go higher and higher as they disappear from the market. However, because of my large presence on eBay, I am always being contacted with selling offers, some of which I take advantage of and some I have to pass on because of the prices. I have found that by buying in bulk, even when many or most of the shows are lesser known but still amazing shows, I can offer the best prices on all titles. And, even though I price all my shows so that I make very little on each sale, most of which I use to buy more shows to make available to you, if you find the price too high, let me know and we can likely work out something you can afford. I want everyone to be able to have what they want for their collection. So, again, what is a radio show? Radio Shows are syndicated productions provided to radio stations usually on what is called a 'barter arrangement'. There were several large and small distributors who supplied broadcast product to radio stations normally during weekends when the usual air personalities have a break, although in recent years, through bigger companies absorbing smaller ones and many going out of business because the competition was just too fierce, there are only a few big syndicators left. This is sad because it has led to more homogonization of different formats and selection available for stations and often less creativity in the shows. Most aired on Saturday or Sundays. They often feature some of the best known voices for their genre from across the country thus the Dick Clark's and Casey Kasem's and Rick Dees and Dick Bartley and so many others. People collect them for various reasons. Some just collect the series because they like it and want them all. Some collect their favorite artists or genre of music. Rather than an album by Lthe artist or a compilation downloaded through iTunes or wherever, they have a unique presentation of their favorite artist or music not available anywhere else and always with dj presentations which were very entertaining. Some collect interviews with their favorite artists as most shows had interview segments. Some collect commercials and as I said, even these old vintage commercials now bring back memories. Radio shows were first distributed on reel to reel tape or on CD and even later (after 2000 for most shows) on CDR. Now they are not available at all to collectors since they are distributed by digital download much like you get your music from iTunes. These shows become rarer and rarer every day because the people who buy them hold on to them. The shows that you get now and hold on to will never decrease in value and only increase. I have prided myself since the start to provide the best and fairest cost with a no holds barred guarantee that you will be happy or I refund your money. I sell them for near what I bought them for. I give volume discounts and discount postage always. As the postal service increases their rates, my shipping rates over the years has decreased. And, I have one of the biggest radio show libraries in the world consisting of over fifteen thousand of shows, so many that I don't even know all that I have and am sometimes amazed when I go to look for one show and find another that I did not realize I had. Finally, it is Americana at its best. Whether the show be from the 60's or 2000's, rock, countdown, oldies, country, classical, religious, jazz or big band, it is unique and home grown. And you just can't find them anywhere. Even record stores that still exist will rarely have any. Radio shows are wonderful representations of the real golden age of radio at least music wise. And every one you buy is an original, not a copy, not a remake - all are limited editions. Once you get hooked, like me, it is a love affair for life! So, I hope you will join me in this and many more wondrous voyages on the 'SS Keith's Kollectables' as we take exciting journeys together exploring the treasures of radio shows we grew up with and thought were long lost.May the lost be found
