The background also depicting the Good Thief and the Bad Thief and below on the left the three Mary's, and on the right the Apostle John, and the Roman Centurion Longinus holding his blessing hand in the configuration favored by the Old Believers. In each corner a medallion painted with one of the Four Evangelists. 17.5 inches x 14 inches (44.5 x 36cm). It should be noted that the quality of the casting of the inset crucifix is excellent and it is likely the original crucifix around which this icon was originally painted.
