Description: Antique 19th Century Handcrafted Cedar Wood Blanket/Storage Chest Trunk 48 x 28. This charming piece of Americana is over 150 years old and has been carefully restored to preserve it's original condition. It was handcrafted from cedar with detail like framed tongue and groove side panels, beveled raised panel detail on the top/lid, brass corners, and cast iron handles dated October 31, 1871. (Date was discovered when the handles were removed for restoration). The base trim around the bottom of the chest was handcrafted and replaced during restoration, and casters (which are recessed and hidden) were added so the chest can be moved without scratching any flooring because the chest is quite heavy. The lock assembly is original, however, we do not have the key. This piece measures approximately 48" wide x 28" front to back x 30" tall. Estimated weight is 100 lbs.
