Description: Antique American Railway Guild Sterling Folding Fruit Knife Kirschbaum Germany Click image to enlarge Description Offered for your consideration is an antique folding fruit pocket knife. Made by Kirschbaum (Aterson?) of Germany, I am dating this knife to the late 1800s, or very early 1900s. The fronts or sides of the knife are made of STERLING (marked), with a scroll design on one side, and an engraving, identifying THE AMERICAN RAILWAY GUILD, in an Old English font, on the reverse. There are 2 fold out blades, with one measuring 1 1/2" and the smaller measuring 1". Both of the blades have a very good snap on open and close. This could possibly be an unused knife, as I do not detect any honing to the blades to indicate they were ever sharpened, with both retaining a fairly sharp edge. Overall, the knife is in very good 'as found' condition. There are no breaks or repairs, but it does show use and handling, including some oxidation to the metal, and tarnish to the silver. It measures 2 3/4" closed, with a weight of 17.6 grams. A very rare find for the Railroadiana collector! Auctions can be combined to save on shipping. Thank you for viewing my listing.
