Seven miles from the Atlantic entrance to canal. There are three double locks at Gatun to allow the passage of vessels in both directions. Each set of three will lift a vessel 85 feet. The locks are about 1 1/3 miles long of solid concrete, and form the largest cnrretr structure in the world. About 2,000,000 yards of concrete. The second picture is a Steam dredge sucking out mud from the last barrier of earth to the Atlantic Ocean. The third postcard is a picture of Panama Canal and the Balboa Machine Shops. The fourth is work in the Culebra Cut. The bottom of the Canal throughout this cut will be 300 feet wide and the water will be not less than 45 feet deep.
