Description: 1870 Flower Lithographs (2) Wilhelm HermesThese 5.75" x 8.5" prints (circa 1870) are from William Hermes' United States Systematic Drawing Schools book, German Edition. It is from a series of lithograph plates intended for artist instruction and emulating. An exhaustive online search for other copies of these prints resulted only in finding a copy of the book(s) housed at The Huntingdon Library and Art Museum in San Marino, California, originals at The Met in New York, and fewer than a handful on seller sites. We obtained these prints from an estate sale in New Jersey for the family of a young artist who was studying the craft in the late 1800's to early 1900's, and was in a collection with many more items from that same time period. We are convinced these items are authentic, from that book, and from that time period. This print will be a remarkable addition to your collection as the mid 19th century artwork is meticulous and beautiful, and apparently very few copies of these prints remain. Upon purchase, we will begin the process of carefully packaging your art piece for shipping.
