Antique Vintage Hickory Shaft Nicoll McEwan Scotland Anti-Shank Iron

Description: This item is a 37 1/2" right-handed hickory shafted Iron. Smith's Patent model Rustless metal anti-shank style with no hosel. 32* loft and a nice C 9 swingweight. Made by George Nicoll of Leven Fife Scotland. Has his famous Hand cleek mark. You don't see very many Nicoll anti-shank irons. Made for the pro Peter McEwan (of the famous McEwan family) while he was at Huddersfield. The head is clean and not all rusted. It does have the expected minor play nicks and dings. Please look at the many zoom pictures to get a better idea of condition. The shaft is an old apparently original. It is straight, I see no cracks and it is some play at the hosel. All hickory shafted clubs should be re-set prior to play. The grip is an old long leather wrap that is in good vintage condition. Hard to find club. If you are considering playing with this club, while I see no issues with this hickory shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage. These hickory shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee hickory shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old hickory shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old hickory shafted wood with a hard range ball.Shipping in the US is calculated and based on a 3-pound box. This item shipped UPS Ground. For those of you that never ship but only receive items, the further you are from me in NC the more shipping will be. That is the way the carriers charge. On top of that, eBay and takes almost 15% of what I receive for shipping (out of $10 I receive $8.50) and I would like to break even. eBay collects sales tax for many states.
