Description: Original Civil War related letter dated August 18, 1862 from Rochester, NY. The author is concerned about the draft. Excerpts include "...The Country is in a confusion, nothing talked of but non enlisting & fear of drafting city and county. I can hardly get a man to talk.....they are all scared with fear of a draft. I am afraid of my business for the coming few weeks...." Not sure who signed it and some of the words are hard to read but you can take a look for yourself. There is a bit of old paper glued to the back as you can see, probably came out of someone's album at some point. Has creasing on the left side, but otherwise Good condition.
