Simple, yet artfully detailed. Young in spirit, yet sophisticated and ageless”. Who knew that twenty or so years later, Taylor would be proved right. These days, Taylor’s costume jewelry pieces, altogether 23 collections, are prized by collectors and fans alike. Here is a necklace that seems the epitome of the actress’s "essence": a “Forever Violet” necklace and earrings from 1994. Named for Taylor’s world famous violet eyes -- translucent purple beads. Accenting the glorious beads are medallions laden with complementing faux gemstones: faux mabe pearl, peridot, and amethysts. The necklace has all the violet beads, in eight strands that could either be worn as is, or as a thick torsade. The centerpiece is the gilt medallion, with four huge faux pearls and a floral latticed gold tone center featuring faux amethyst round crystals and peridot green heart-shaped crystals. There are also tiny florets with pink and white rhinestones. The medallion could be positioned at the center, or on either side for an asymmetric look. All ways, stunning. The necklace is about 19” long. The strands, laid flat, measure 1 7/8” wide; twisted in a torsade, they are about 1 1/4”. The medallion measures 1 3/4” x 1 3/4” and hides a hinged hoop clasp at the base. The earrings match the clasp and are 1 1/2” in diameter. Necklace and earrings are signed with a large script “E”, plus stamps of Elizabeth Taylor and Avon. From my personal vintage jewelry collection. Rare find to come across and in full collection.
