The Silhouette Electro is a compact camera with a manual focus viewfinder, just an automatic exposure control version of the Vilia.The camera has almost the same appearance as its predecessor and is equipped with the same lens, a simple 40mm f/4 triplet called the Triplet 69-3. The lens is also manually focused from 0.8 m to infinity, symbols on the distance scale help to correctly estimate the distance to given objects (portrait, group portrait, group, landscape). The two-blade shutter and four-blade diaphragm are located immediately behind the lens.However, the Siluet features a CdS exposure meter located in the lens body, directly above the front element, which is connected to the automatic shutter speed control system in aperture priority mode. The appropriate film speed from 16 to 250 ASA must be set using the ring on the lens. The user then needs to manually set any aperture from 4 to 16, and the camera will automatically adjust the shutter speed from 8s to 1/250s. Weather symbols (such as sun, light clouds, heavy clouds, etc.) on the aperture ring help you choose the aperture that suits the lighting conditions. An orange indicator in the viewfinder signals a shutter speed longer than 1/30s, while a red indicator warns when a shutter speed of 1/250s is insufficient for the correct exposure and the aperture should be reduced. Aperture can also be manually set from 4 to 16 in B or flash modes, the latter offering a fixed shutter speed of 1/30s.The Siluet Elektro is powered by a single 4RC53 battery, which can be replaced with four PX625 batteries (or equivalent).
