JUNG (1875-1961) HANDWRITTEN LETTER SIGNED, "C. G. Jung", 1 pg., 8.25 x 5.75, on his personal stationary, Zurich, 18 October 1944.He writes to his mentee, Dr. Rivkah Scharf (1907-87) Biblical scholar, long-time associate of Jung and one of the first Jungian analysts. Jung, the author, psychologist and psychiatrist and scholar, and above all visionary dreamer, here discusses several biblical references and request for her help with some religious research. Translated from German, In Full: "Dear Miss! Thank you very much for the Leviathan. He is captured well now. I do have another question, however, and I would be most grateful if you could find the answer to it. The matter concerns the Song of Songs VI:11 Vulgata: 'Nescivi anima mea conturbavit me propter quadriga Amindab ["I knew not: my soul troubled me for the chariots of Aminadab"].' This verse follows 10: 'Descendi in hortum nucum etc.' In the Z. B., verse 11 has been left out and Verse 12 Vulg., 'Revertere, Revertere, Sulamitis ["Return, Return, Shulamites"]...' has become 7:1 there (Z. B.). Verse 11 (Vulg.) is a corrupted verse. How does it read in the original? There is no hurry. Many thanks in advance! ...." Over the door of his house in Zurich, Jung had inscribed, in Latin: "Whether summoned or not God will be present."
