Description: I’m not a dealer of rare books and don’t know the criteria for rating condition. This book was in my brother’s collection of rare and weird books. He was a San Francisco resident. In my judgement the book is in fair condition. It has all the pages, most in good condition but it also has many stains, and multiple tears. There is one loose page. The photos show the most egregious issues. “Thomas Samuel Duke was the San Francisco captain of police. The text includes 110 criminal cases going back to 1830. Pages 1-188 are on San Francisco cases, pages 189-306 are on Pacific Coast cases, and pages 307-657 are on cases in the rest of the United States.” The author, Thomas S Duke, inscribed and signed the book. The inscription reads, To Hon E. P. Morgan Presiding Judge Superior Court Compliments of the author Theo Duke San Francisco is written in a different pen under this and 1912 is printed (in pencil, I believe) above the inscription.
