Description: Chicago Artist Jim Elkins Folk Art Outsider 1989 silhouette Scrawl Saw Cut Out of a lady taking off her underwear while leaning on a chair. Chair ( 16" x 36" x 1/8") is a separate piece from the lady. 61" x 30" x 1/8" . The scrawl lines are on average 1/4" , sometimes wider sometimes narrower. The chair has a wider line. Spray painted glossy black. The flapper lady is removing her knickers whilst she is leaning on an ice cream parlor chair. Jim Elkins was an artist who did painting but also a lot of wooden faces painted as portraits. Call it kitsch or outsider art. It truly is an expression of an artist! This piece is not signed but it comes from the artist estate. This would look fantastic at a business as a conversation starter. Simply amazing. This is made with a scrawl saw. multiple pieces are then glued together at the back. Some cracks and breaks have appeared over time. Some are at those junction points and others at stress points where the piece was attached to a wall. These are easy to fix because the wood is light and small amount of pressure after wood glue application would be enough. I will not do these repairs since shipping the piece might cause unnecessary stress on those delicate point. So having the piece be cracked at those points makes it less likely to break more. I am familiar with shipping artwork, this will be shipped with utmost care. Local pickup in the Chicago / Milwaukee area can be arranged.
