Description: The Grove, Coltishall, Norfolk. An 1899 Draft Manuscript Lease with Hand Drawn & Coloured Plan. 11p manuscript draft lease (with numerous ms insertions and corrections throughout) on foolscap size blue paper (as well as outer docketed titles), together with a hand drawn and coloured plan of the site. The text shows the agreement between Edward Hawes of Richmond, Surrey and Henry Freeman White of Coltishall, dated November 15th 1899, for a lease of 21 years at £100 per annum. The plot included Grove House (interestingly there is a good inventory of the contents), as well as a “…coachhouse, stables, greenhouses, boathouse (in course of erection), plantations, pleasure grounds and gardens…”. The plan shows a frontage to the River Bure, backing onto the High Road in the north. The draft lease and plan both signed by Henry White, so it would seem to have been his copy originally. Ref: AUH Approx. 270x420mm., Plan approx. 218x260mm., and overall in good condition.
