Description: This comes to you from a smoke-free, mold-free homeLast year we sold one new and one used copy of this book. Today, much to our surprise, we found this store display copy as we were unpacking stored items . We are offering this find... now an extremely rare copy CRISIS OF CONSCIENCE ~ 1983 ~ Raymond Franz ~ $7,777.77First edition, 375 pages. As far as I know – the very first editions had no dust cover. *We bought a case of the books directly from Mr Franz and none had dust-jackets The underlining is in the original printing - not done after printing. Starting in the 1870's as an independent Bible study group composed of a handful of persons in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jehovah's Witnesses today number more than five million in some 200 lands. In countries where they are active, few people have not had contact with the Witnesses as a result of their intense door-to-door activity. Unlike other books written by former JWs, Franz seems more saddened than angry, and his tone reflects this. Franz also documents and explains failed prophecy, which caused many trusting members of the "truth" to sell homes, postpone college, and other goals in order to be ready for the end. The entire book is a calm and sober, yet highly personal, account of Franz's life deep within the Watchtower and his eventual exit. Franz's book documents this fact in a fashion befitting of Christ's love and mercy. If he is an apostate then I am proud to be on along side of him! He is not bitter in his book at all! He seems like a real nice person that is trying to apolagize for his part in this misleading organization.Franz did a great job of explaining everything he needed to say; he simply gave the facts, and supported much of his information with scanned copies of his resources. This book is well worth the read as it opens your eyes to the inner workings that the Jehovah's Witness membership is not privy to.~To his credit, Mr. Franz does not speak with hatred and bitterness about the organization that he devoted more than sixty years of his life to. He relays this memoir objectively, almost apologetically, this amazing firsthand account of what takes place behind closed doors that the membership does not know about (and would never know about, if not for this book). Conversely, considering that the membership is strictly forbidden from reading any material that is critical of the Watchtower Society, I imagine the vast majority of the membership still does not know any of this. In all these years, (I owned & operated a Christian bookstore at the time that I met Mr Franz) I have never seen a powerful work such as this book.Having recently passed away a few years ago, at age 88, Mr. Raymond Franz is at long last a truly free man.... ***If you've gotten this far in reading this description, I have a confession to make about the pricing. First, I love the number 7. Secondly, I so wanted to bring awareness to this publication because it is about the best testimonial writing I have ever seen and the cost of 60 years of a persons' life is, after all, beyond measure. Mr Franz gave the price live a sacrificial life because he loved God and people. The highest price he would have paid if he had not escaped the cult - would have been his salvation itself for all eternity for depending on works instead of the only one worthy of that status (Christ himself and Him crucified) by whom we are written into The Lambs' Book Of Life. I have studied many years and several times with Witnesses and it was heartbreaking to think that they might never come to accept Christ in all that he is to and for us. So putting this forbidden book up - I'm hoping to make it more and more visible and enticing to read the "forbidden" Crisis Of Conscience by purchasing a copy at the reasonable prices which now abound. It is worth the small fee we pay monthly for relisting and beaconing.
