Description: Del Vecchio Grecian Urn Plate This exquisite plate is made by Fabbrica del Vecchio of Naples Italy in the late 1700's. Plate of lead-glazed earthenware (creamware) decorated in terracotta and black enamels. In the centre is a terracotta urn on a black pedestal, decorated in reverse with the figure of a woman in neo-classical dress, with three horizontal bands above and below her, and two leafy sprays. Incised FDV N to verso. Approx 9.25"W Documentation: Similar plate (same manufacturer) in possession of the Victory and Albert Museum (see last photo above) Provenance: Prominent private collection Condition: Nice condition, small chip to rim, tight hairline visible from back, paint loss, otherwise minor imperfections to be expected.
