Description: Moving between continents one realises the amount of stuff collected over a lifetime. I really need to lighten the load, while I may part with the objects, the memories of many happy hours spent collecting them will remain forever. These gastropods were collected over the course of two decades from the classic Eocene site of Highcliffe / Barton on Sea along the southern coast of the UK, from the Barton Clay Formation. Unfortunately with the newly built sea defences the site is becoming less and less productive, many of the rarer species are now very hard to find. I am selling the collection species by species, so if someone needs to fill any gaps in their collection this might be a good opportunity. I WILL COMBINE SHIPPING FOR MULTIPLE ITEMS. Please place all items into the shopping cart and click "Request Total From Seller". This lot: Clavilithes scalaris (Lamarck 1816) A very rare species, this is an exceptional find with a pathological deformity, it must have survived a predation attempt. The crushed aperture indicates there was a second predation at the end of its life. The basal stem is missing, remaining length is 50mm, a fully grown adult. Clay infill was not fully cleaned to support the crushed part of the shell.
