Description: This SCARCE leather limited edition book from The Franklin Mint is in NEAR PERFECT condition with no markings inside or out and no attached bookplates. There really aren't any imperfections of any significance or any wear anywhere. This unit is about as perfect as can reasonably be expected from a book that's nearly 50 years old. There is barely even a scratch to the gilding on the giant text block.... If I didn't have another copy of this wonderful book for myself, I'd never sell this one. I love this novel, this translation of it, and this edition. I've even read this novel in 3 different English translations(Constance Garnett, Pevear & Volokhonsky, Jessie Coulson), and the Franklin Library and Oxford University used Jessie Coulson for their editions which is also my favorite and the most interesting. The translation of the novel by Jessie Coulson represents accurately, in contemporary English, Dostoevskys nineteenth-century Russian original. It distorts neither through modernization nor through Victorianisms, and it is readable in its own right instead of sounding like a translation. (The Easton Press uses Constance Garnett for the translation, which is extremely basic, literal, and dull. Not a scholarly translation by any means) All books in my store are clean and free of odors, dust, or dander and come from a well-ventilated building with NO smoking, vaping, pets, children, or even food and cooking. Simply put, these books are fresh, crisp, and cared for. COMBINED SHIPPING is always automatically active, and if you buy 5 or more in the same transaction, FREE SHIPPING!! Crime and Punishment is a novel by the Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky. It was first published in the literary journal The Russian Messenger in twelve monthly installments during 1866. It was later published in a single volume. It is the second of Dostoevsky's full-length novels following his return from ten years of exile in Siberia. Crime and Punishment is considered the first great novel of his mature period of writing. The novel is often cited as one of the supreme achievements in world literature.
