KEYWORDS: Thomas Greenbowe, K. A. Burke, Jeffrey Pribyl, Student, Companion, Chemistry, Study, University, College, Laboratory, Physical, DESCRIPTION: From the Introduction: This Student's Companion for Chemistry was written to help you with your college general chemistry course and textbook. The topics in this companion were selected based upon our teaching experience with students. We decided to cover a few important sections in detail rather than provide brief coverage of each and every topic. The topics that we discuss are topics with which students need extra help. Each chapter in the Student's Companion contains a brief introduction to the material in the chapter, a list of important terms, explanations of material, and worked examples. The slim size should encourage you to carry it with you and refer to it when you have a few spare moments. Generally, you should skim through and quickly read the assigned section in your textbook before the material is presented in lecture.Get an overview of the material. You can use the Companion to quickly review a chapter. Attend lecture and take notes. Within a day of lecture, you should rewrite your lecture notes, fill in the details, and make corrections. If you are having difficulty with a particular section, try working the example problems in this particular section, try working the example problems in this Companion and in the textbook. At least three times a week, without looking at the solutions, work the assigned homework problems at the end of the chapter in the textbook. We have made an effort to write the material as clearly and succinctly as possible. We are experienced teachers who are successful in helping students understand chemistry. We know that it sometimes takes a different way of presenting material for it to catch on. We hope our efforts on your behalf are beneficial. Any errors in content, grammar, or formatting are ours. If you do spot an error, please let your teacher know and we may be able to correct it in the next edition. CONDITION: Very light shelf-wear to covers. Contents appear unmarked. An excellent copy.
