Description: This charming and hand-crafted, three piece set of antique Spanish roof tiles are painted with Medieval Spanish designs by the reclusive artist BRUNO from Puente Del Arzobispo, Spain. Extremely rare and highly collectible. The three tiles feature a princess draped in red on olive green, a lute player in plum on mustard, and a red swathed Medieval flute player on dark blue, all on a checkerboard floor. They are in excellent condition and show no signs of wear. The tiles themselves are antique, and are meant to look it, but the paintings look perfect, as the artist intended, with the juxtaposition of the old tile against the carefully recreated Spanish Medieval ceramic paintings creating a fresh artwork that looks as it would in the 12th century. The antique roof tiles feature a concave curve which lifts the artworks off of the wall and creates a sense of dimension and texture. These gorgeous handmade pieces can be hung as a set, or used as wall light covers, to bring a warm feeling of Renaissance revivalism to your home. Bruno's output is small, so his pieces are extremely rare. To find a three piece set is unheard of -- the gallery that sells Bruno ceramics and paintings in Mijjas, Spain, says that if you want more than one, "Forget about it." Bruno sells a few pieces from the gallery Mijas Ceramics, in Mijas village in the province of Malaga (Andalusia), in the south of Spain. Bruno's artworks painstakenly recreate Medieval Spanish Ceramics from the XII and XIII century, and for his signature pieces he paints antique Spanish roof tiles with the Spanish medieval designs that were once found on Spanish ceramics. His medieval figures include princesses, musician, jokers, and religious figures. Bruno is one one of those rare artisans that works all by himself, "keeping this secrets." Bruno's pieces feature a "Craquelado," which forces very small little cracks of the surface to evoke an antique look. The artisan opens the ovens before it cools, taking the pieces out and spraying them with cool water, which creates tiny cracks on the enamel of the surface of the piece. The tiles come from the estate of my mother, who was an enthusiastic world traveler, collecting the best examples of local art from local artists from each of her destinations. Well-cared for in a non-smoking household.
