Description: This oversized vintage chess set was created in 1969 by a local art teacher from Duncan molds. It is perfect for any collector or chess enthusiast. The massive pieces have a glossy black and white fired glaze. Duncan is well-known for producing high-quality molds, and this set is proof. The heights of the pieces are: Kings 8, Queens 7 , Bishops 7 , Knights 7, Rooks 6 1/2, Pawns 6. The bases of the major pieces are 2 diameter. Pawns are 2 . Four pieces have minor damage from normal use: The black king has a 1/8 chip on his right cheek; the white king has a chip out of the point of the crown; a black knight has two 1/8-inch nicks on the mane and one 1/8-inch nick on the collar; one white bishop has one -inch chip on the base. The other white bishop was dropped and has a broken base. The broken pieces remain held in place by the felt cushion (and a bit of tape) and fit neatly together. But it looks like it could be easily repaired with ceramic glue by someone who knows what they are doing (not me). See the detailed photos of the damages. It's a big heavy package with lots of paper and bubble wrap. I've listed Fed Ex Ground shipping, but I will consider other shipping after purchase to secure you the best rate.
