Description: This is an important Empire Chandelier from a Palm Springs, CA estate in Old Las Palmas. I believe this is 19th century or earlier French Empire, but I am not an expert when it comes to antique chandeliers and lighting fixtures. I believe it was originally a gas chandelier and was later wired for electrical use. I have not tested the wiring or hung it for electrical use. This gold gilt chandelier is extremely heavy and many of the ornate decorated pieces are screwed on and can be taken apart. This chandelier could use a good cleaning. The ornate arms can bend slightly. There are 16 arms with 16 electrical sockets, but only 15 cardboard candles remain and the paint has dried out and come off most of the cardboard candles. The bottom finial is heavy marble and screws into place. The length of the chandelier is approximately 52" with the heavy added chain links. The width is approximately 29".
