Description: Impressionist Seaside Cloudscape with Bridge (possibly Isles of Shoals) attributed to Mary Aubin Harris (1864-1952), listed New Hampshire/California artist, oil on canvas, 14 1/8" by 15 1/8", unsigned, high quality reproduction French style 22K gilded carved frame, 20 3/4" by 22 1/4". Artist studied Packer College Institute of Art in Brooklyn, with W. M. Chase and Irving R. Wiles, as well as Cape Cod summer schools. She moved to Portsmouth from California around 1900, and served as a proprietor of Portsmouth Athenaeum 1940-1951. New Hampshire Historical Society holds many of her works, most of which are unsigned. This unsigned painting was found at auction in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and was reported to have come from the Harris Estate and possibly was of a bridge on Isles of Shoals. Condition is very good, restretched on new stretcher bars, framing is excellent.
