Description: This is "The Silmarillion" by J.R.R. Tolkien, edited by his son Christopher Tolkien. It is a blue clothbound hardcover book with gold lettering and decoration on the spine. The tops of the page edges are dyed blue. There is a fold-out map tipped in to the back of the book. The Dust Jacket is present. It was published by George Allan & Unwin in London in 1977. It is the first edition, first impression of this work. The true first Export edition with no price on front fly leaf of the dust wrapper, issue points including no full stop after 'Feanor' on p.330 line 4 and 'Lord of Waters and King of the Sea' in italics on p.352. Preceding the domestic edition. A collection of myths and stories representative of J.R.R. Tolkien's excellency in various styles. Edited and published posthumously by his son Christopher, the book is set in the fictional universe of Eä that includes the world of Middle Earth. There is some crushing to the spine ends and bumped corners. The title has been faded into the book's spine through the dustjacket. The inner pages are unmarked save for a wee smudge inside the back cover and a small mark on the outer edge of the page block. The binding is tight and sound. Please see all the photos. The dustjacket has a little wear around the edges and is unclipped. A great addition to anyone's Tolkien collection.
