Awesome edge shape to this 11" serving bowl and nice ring when tapped.Luster trim and hand painted florals.Estate item.The bottom mark is JSV 1911-1932.3 1/4" tall. The company was started by brothers Johann and Christian Wilhelm Seltmann in 1901, located in Vohenstrauß, Germany.The brothers parted ways in 1909. Johann remained there and employed 500 workers.He passed away in 1921, then his sons, Robert and Christian took over management.The company was closed after WWII because of structural damage to the factory.It was gradually rebuilt. Robert passed away in 1956.By the 1970's, the company struggled because of a competitive market and in 1975, Seltmann G.m.b.h. became a limited company.Johann, in 1993 merged with Schirnding A.G. & J. Kronester G.m.b.H. to form SKV-Porzellan-Union.The Vohenstrauß business was decidely closed in 1995.
