CONDITION: This classical large porcelain Lladró figure is titled "Angel of Peace" She holds an intricately designed white dove figure which is the symbol of peace. She is a full 12" in height. This delicate creation is typical of the quality and workmanship that Lladró produced. Lladró's skin tones and delicate designs are unmistakably their own. This lovely "Angel of Peace" figure is in Undamaged Condition without chips, cracks, or mold damage. The colors are amazing. Lladró In 1953, three bothers, Juan, José and Vicente Lladró began their journey at their home in the village of Almàssera Spain, They made their first plates, vases and ceramic figurines. The brothers were inspired by other great European companies such as Meissen, Sèvres and Capodimonte. In the decade that followed Lladró developed its own unique style and production techniques. In the late 1950s, Lladró opened their first store in Valencia. Lladró reinvented themselves throughout the next 5 decades with their unsurpassed changes in style and design. In the mid 1960s, Lladró began using a new technique called single fire glazing that allowed them to work miracles with skin tones and pastel colors. Their elongated figures and distinctive shapes and techniques gained them approval in the vast market place. The company became so large that it opened a profesional training school for its designers and artists. In 1965, Lladró entered the American market. In 1969, Lladró opened its headquarters in Tavernes Blanques (Valencia) and they are still in operation there today. In the 1970s business boomed. The Lladró innovative designs and creations were becoming internationally appreciated. They introduced limited editions which gained them even more recognition and popularity. In this decade Lladró started using a new material called gres which was even more versatile and gave them the ability to produce pieces with greater durability and quality in the earthy tones that they were noted for. Expansion continued into the 1980s, with new innovations and an even greater level of control in the techniques used to created their product. In this decade the designers were only limited by their imagination. As a result new more complicated designs and figures were introduced into the Lladró line. Collectors were established world wide and The Lladró Collectors' Society was founded in 1985. The need for expansion resulted in subsidiaries in Japan and China. In 1988, Lladró opened its first museum and gallery in New York City, on Fifth Avenue, in Manhattan. The company had become world renowned. The 1990s, continued with prestigious awards for even more intricate designs and figures. Some of Lladró's most impressive work came from this decade. Lladró opened stores in Toyko, Madrid, and Beverly Hills proving that they had the imagination and attention of the entire world. The 2000s brought further change and innovations to the company. Their renowned artists works were sought after and admired throughout the world. In 2006 and 2009, Lladró opened two new boutiques in Moscow. New figures with religious aspects were added to the Lladró line. Sculptured pieces with vivid colors were introduced. The 2010 decade still found Lladró at the top of its game due to the ability to change with the time. New fresh ideas in porcelain lighting, jewelry and accessories were introduced. A new boutique was opened in New York City. In 2017 the company was acquired by the PHI Industrial Group. Today, Lladró is known throughout the world as one of the finest creators of porcelain figures.
