Description: Lot of Two - United Airlines Menus Artist - Peter Hayward "Beaver II" - Boston Harbor 1976 - A Bicentennial Scene and"Hawaii", the lovely Koolau mountain range Offered are two original United Airlines menus, ca. 1976, both measuring about 5.25 x 6.25 inches, and opening to about 10.50 inches. The "Beaver II" menu is in very good to a shade off fine condition, while the "Hawaii" menu has moderate stains noted along the right side of the opened menu. The first menu, "Beaver II" menu shows a bicentennial scene of Boston harbor which featured an exact replica of the Beaver II, which was one of three British ships that was involved in the Boston Tea party. The second menu, Hayward "Hawaii" menu depicts the Koolau mountain range along the north coast of Oahu, Hawaii. Peter Hayward was an American artist best known for his realistic landscape and cityscape paintings. Spanning from Indonesia, to Hawaii, and New York his works were made with thick palette knife marks and bright colors. Born in 1905 in Keene, NH, he studied at Middlebury College in Vermont from 1921 to 1923, and was a member of several prominent artists' leagues and associations, including the New York Salmagundi Club, and the Lahaina Art Association. Hayward spent a large portion of his life in Hauula, HI. Over the course of his career he garnered several awards, including the Grand Prize All Media at the Washington Square Outdoor Art Show in New York. The artist passed away in 1993.
