Description: Here’s the king of the lanthanides. Lutetium - at least insofar as the aims of Periodic Table cognoscenti, is the rarest and most exclusive of the rare earth metals. This is in equal parts due to its having very little in terms of commercial demand (thus little incentive to go looking for it), the difficulty in extracting it from its ores (a nightmare, really) and its actual rarity in nature. How rare? A ton of high-grade ore may give up as much as 500kg of cerium or lanthanum but only a paltry 100 grams or so of lutetium.Heavy and dark gray as lead, lutetium is a hard metal with machining properties closer to cast iron. Cast iron isn’t hard at all to form into cute little bars and that explains why our facility was able to produce these without much fuss. On the other hand they’re anything but cheap… damn things are nearly as expensive as a full tank of gas!Measures 5x8x0.89mmListing is for one bar. Comes in protective plastic capsule.
