Description: This is a 19th-century (ca. 1858) printing of the 1704 Plan of Charles-Town (now known as Charleston), South Carolina that was engraved in 1805 by Akin and published by Edward Crisp. This map was later published in David Ramsay's The History of South Carolina published in 1809. The plan, with north oriented to the right, shows the early fortified town at the confluence of the Cooper and Ashley rivers with a legend at bottom identifying 36 important sites mostly inside the city. A number of farms and residences are also identified outside the fortified walls. The map is in its original form, measures 12.5" x 10". It is unframed and uncolored, with fold lines. Perfect for framing!
