Amprobe PRM-6 Phase Sequence and Motor Rotation Tester Designed specifically for electrical and facility maintenance Improper connections can cause motors to rotate in reverse direction, potentially damaging the motor and the equipment it’s powering. The PRM-6 Phase Sequence and Motor Rotation Tester is easy-to-use and reliable to test the motor rotation of 3-phase systems with traditional test leads. In addition, it can verify 3-phase receptacle wiring and phase sequencing. Key Features Verifies motor rotation of disconnected motors Indicates motor rotation in disconnected motors using test leads and by spinning the shaft by hand or other means. Designed specifically for electrical and facility maintenance, the PRM-6 can measure phase rotation of three-phase power supplies that are used to feed motors, drives and electrical systems, and verify three-phase receptacle sockets. Non-Contact Rotary Detection 1. Disconnect all test leads from the PRM-6. 2. Position the Tester on the motor so that it is parallel to the length of the motor shaft. The sensor of the Tester should be in the center of the motor windings and should be as close as possible to the motor. 3. Press the ON/OFF button. Either the Clockwise or Counter Clockwise Rotary indicator illuminates showing the type of rotary field direction present. The non-contact motor rotary field detection, senses motor rotation direction without use of test leads. This is particularly useful for fast-running motors when the motor rotation cannot be visually determined or when the drive shaft is not visible. Phase rotation in 3-phase systems Indicates the phase rotation. 3-phase systems for both power sources and motors, as well as identifies faulty 3-phase wiring with de-energized phases or incorrectly wired receptacles.
