Description: OLD 1800's Hexagon Clay Floor Tile Astengo Macchioli & Co of Vado Ligure Italy Offered for your consideration is this OLD 1800's Hexagon Clay Floor Tile Astengo Macchioli & Co of Vado Ligure, Italy. This clayworking establishment had approx 75 hands working for them at one time. Nice deep stamping on the front with a thin chip off the back. In a write up from a paper/magazine in 1898 part of it reads....The tenacious tiles of the Astengo Macchioli di Vado are beautiful, tiles in various colors, with very resistant clay, and among which there is one of the marbled genre that seems agate. I believe this to be a floor tile as that is what they were know for but it could be used as a great coaster :) Measures 4-3/4" point to point and 4-3/16" panel to panel. Could use some cleaning upon arrival.
