Description: Original Analog: Early (1923) Blues: Blind Musician of The Smoky Mtns- Vocalion Original Analog: Early (1923) Blues: Blind Musician of The Smoky Mtns- Vocalion Description Wikipedia has some information about the event that inspired Track A on our offered listing. It is a part of the earliest roots of Country Blues in Recorded Music. If you go to the Wikipedia site, just copy and paste Wreck Of The Old 97 Into the Wikipedia search bar. George Reneau The Wreck 0n the Southern 97 / Lonesome Road Blues Label : Vocalion - 14809 / Original 1st Edition Pressing - Please See Below for the Deadwax Matrixes Format : 10" Shellac 78 RPM Record Country : U.S. Released : 1923 Genre : Blues Style : Country Blues THE SHELLAC : VERY GOOD VG : Both shellac surfaces retain much of their original gloss, with some spindlewear evident. Bright, undamaged, Black and Gold Vocalion Labels. Present on both sides are some light marks, including some scuffing and hairlines that produce occasional (not regular) background noise. Please Note - At the end of Side A there is an unseparated crack that produces regular clicks for the last 30 seconds (approximately). Please see our Photo Gallery. On Side B, a dimple from this Side A mark also produces some clicking. We think this flaw reduces the grade from what otherwise would be VG+. A Note About The Recording Technology: Shellac recordings used early sound recording manufacturing technology, and play with various levels of background "noise", and an occasional click or pop. Our grading evaluations examine the record condition as a result of use after it was manufactured. We have placed this shellac recording into a protective plastic sleeve. It will be arranged into a sturdy mailer with plenty of protective packaging for its journey to you. These original, early recordings are great treasures, and while their shellac composition is brittle - we have not lost one yet! We have a good deal of experience with the transit providers, and will prepare your mailer with great care. NM-: RECORD HAS LITTLE OR NO INDICATION THAT IT HAS BEEN PLAYED. EX: MINIMAL SIGNS OF USE (LIGHT SCRATCHING/PAPER SCUFFS), BUT IN ALL A RECORD THAT HAS BEEN WELL-CARED FOR. VG+: LESS CARE THAN EX, LIGHT SCRATCHING OR SCUFFING IS MORE EXTENSIVE. STILL VERY PLAYABLE & WILL LIKELY PROVIDE A QUALITY SOUND. VG & BELOW: WHILE PLAYABLE, THIS RECORD HAS BEEN AROUND THE BLOCK. OBVIOUS SIGNS OF WEAR & SHOULD BE CONSIDERED TO BE IN A LOW GRADE. A RECORD GRADED BELOW VG MAY HAVE A VALUE BASED UPON ITS RARITY OR UNIQUENESS. WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU CLEAN THIS RECORDING BEFORE PLAYING. RECORDS THAT ARE DECADES OLD CAN ATTRACT & ACCUMULATE DAMAGING FOREIGN MATERIAL THAT REDUCES SOUND QUALITY. THIS IS NORMALLY EASILY CORRECTED WITH A GOOD CLEANING.
