Description: Roy Kerswill was born in England (1925) and ended up painting in Jackson, Wyoming until his death (2002). He is known for his oil and watercolor representational paintings, mainly known for his figurative works as published in 'A Pictorial Story of the Oregon and California Trail', he painted landscapes and portraits. Here we see a painting of the Grand Tetons, painted from a view south of the Grand Teton National Park. The influences of Thomas Benton and Carl Roter can be seen in Kerswill's works as he must have seen their paintings at the Jackson Lake Lodge and in Missouri (where the book he published starts it's story). One of his paintings was lost, and then found after 20 years. You can read the story here. https://www.jhnewsandguide.com/valley/feature/a-big-painting-is-also-a-big-mystery/article_8c63b1b6-96fd-5edb-8cd1-b9c2f84e6f40.html https://www.thesheridanpress.com/news/regional-news/missing-teton-village-mural-found-after-nearly-20-years/article_f760c602-67f3-11eb-a749-a7fde6ac86a1.html
