Description: This is a clean New Old Stock example of a complete 2-pie Gulco 24 rear reflector kit, for either rear caliper brake mounting on lightweights or rear fender mounting on road bikes, made for Schwinn beginning in 1971 by the Gulotta Division (or Gulco) of Bright Star Industries, and used on various Schwinn models through the early 1970s. (This is not the more common 6-pie Gulco 22.) Reflector area is 2¼" in diameter on a Bright Star No. 2222 aluminum backing plate. This reflector carries an SAE 1971 compliance, as seen on the front of the lens, and was first issued in or around 1970. A 6-pie version came along later, but this is the original.This reflector can be installed in one of three ways, using one or more of the hardware pieces included:Rear fender mounting, using one nut and lock washer. (Photo 3)Replacement rear caliper or frame mounting, using the included 90° rear installation bracket to attach the reflector to an existing caliper mounting arm or rear chainstay frame mounting, with nut and lock washer. (Photo 4)Full rear caliper mounting, using the included 90° installation bracket plus the extended caliper mounting arm. The second screw, nut and lock washer are used to swivel the reflector as needed to face it squarely back at oncoming traffic. Total offset distance for full rear caliper mounting is about 3 1/8" from centerline of caliper mounting bolt to centerline of reflector stud.
