Description: Please feel free to make an offer. A Genuine Smiths Classic Car Automobile Dashboard Clock Badged "Smiths, London British Made". I believe its from the Art Deco period of the 1920 to 1930's. These are normally 8 Day clocks but it's not marked as an 8 day. It's engraved on the front dial "98.470" but I'm not sure what this signifies. It's a good functioning time piece. It's a nice looking piece & form at approx 3 1/2" in diameter to the engineered notches around the edge. It swings out of its metal dash receptacle. It's a real quality item with its bevelled glass. In expected used condition for an item of this age & nature. There's some expected character full wear on the rear paint & around the front metal work revealing some of the brass. The plating is worn off around the engineered notches around the edge, revealing the gold coloured brass which looks quite nice. PLEASE NOTE: The little internal clip that stop it swinging out wasn't catching so after I'd taken the images I tried to bend it & it broke off so the clip needs replacing or a new one making. The bits are still there & shown in the last image. The clock swings out of its receptacle but as mentioned above the little button clip requires replacement. It would make a nice addition to a vintage vehicle or collection. It also looks fantastic refitted into an appropriate vehicle or professionally mounted on a nice piece of hardwood or a propeller. Please study the images as they also form part of the description & please do your own research. All UK postage includes the extra cost of being signed for, for added peace of mind. Positive feedback is always appreciated. Please check out my other items by scrolling down to my "Seller's Other Items". As I will be selling other similar items.
