Description: Title The Ninja Shinobi no Mono Publication Year 2021It has approx 62 pages. In recent years, research on shinobi has become increasingly active in places like Iga City, Koka City, Aomori University, and Mie University. However, such studies have primarily focused on records from the early modern period, leaving the realities of pre-Sengoku shinobi as a challenge for future exploration. This exhibition gathers primary historical sources from the Sengoku period, a time when shinobi were most active, to organize their roles and characteristics. It also examines their relationship with easily confused concepts such as fukibari (hidden troops) and kusa (spies). By doing so, we aim to shed light on the specific activities of shinobi during the Sengoku period. For the first time, we also display archaeological artifacts believed to be Sengoku-era shinobi tools and compare them with shinobi tools from the Edo period. This comparison seeks to trace the origins of items like the shuriken. Although the collected materials focus primarily on the Kanto, Koshin'etsu, and surrounding regions, we hope this exhibition provides insight into the current state of research on Sengoku-period shinobi.
