Hanks was first and foremost, a figurative painter. His paintings, formed by his own varied life experiences, held a universal quality which intrigued our senses with what the artist termed "moments of introspective solitude." Jurors, galleries and collectors have long recognized the stature of Steve Hanks' achievements. He received the National Watercolor Society Merit Award, a Gold Medal from the National Academy of Western Art and was an invited participant in the Prix de West show at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. In addition to consistently appearing in the list of top ten American artists compiled by U.S. Art Magazine, the National Art for the Parks Competition honored his work with many awards. We are proud to have been one of Steve Hanks' first art galleries. Beginning in the early 1980's, we represented this exceptional artist, sponsoring many one man exhibitions of his beautiful paintings.
