Description: A rare find! Celluloid photo button with 2 cute little guys identified as "Junior Sumpter, Philip Deardorff" on the back. This is so darling. I was thrilled to see names on the back of the button and took a chance that I might be able to identify the boys and brought it home.Junior and Philip are first cousins. Their mothers are sisters Beatrice Olivia Webb & Hazel Marie Webb, daughters of Oliver Lewis Webb (1875 - 1932) and Viola Catherine Vincent (1879 - 1954).James Walter "Junior" Sumpter (on the left) was born 20 November 1927 in Kokomo, Howard, Indiana, son of James Walter Sumpter (1898 - 1954) and Hazel Marie Webb (1899 - 1992). He married Helen Ward in New Orleans. Children included James John, Mary Etta and Margaret Ann. He later married Jeanette Patricia Murphy, born 24 June 1928 in Algiers, Orleans, Louisiana, daughter of John Francis Murphy (1898 - 1951) and Jeanette Dennis (1906 - 1992). James passed away 15 August 1980 and was laid to rest in St. John Cemetery, New Orleans.Philip R. Deardorff (on the right) was born 1 September 1927 in Kokomo, Howard, Indiana, son of Marcus Ellis Deardorff (1898 - 1979) and Beatrice Olivia Webb (1901 - 1991). On the 2nd of February 1951 Philip married Emily Elizabeth Powell, born 28 July 1921 in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of Frank Powell (1879 - 1960) and Tessa M. LeMaster (1883 - 1973). Emily passed away 11 February 1997 in Kokomo and Philip joined her 26 October 2013. They rest together in Sunset memory Garden, Kokomo.This celluloid photo button has a diameter of 6 inches. It is in very good condition for its age, but as it is 93 years old, it is not perfect. It could use a cleaning but I am no expert on celluloid buttons and leave that to your discretion.
