Description: More rare than a Honus Wagner, this T206 Gus Dorner DOPNER error Polar Bear Back tobacco baseball card PSA graded 1 Poor as Dorner not Dopner because PSA has not seen enough examples of this error to officially recognize it as an official Error card in the set. I've included all the scans before and after being sent to PSA, and again they did not recognize this as a "Dopner" error as they have not seen enough examples of that rare error to officially recognize it as one, just to be clear. This is one of 5 known examples now, so revision I. Their stance is now becoming more likely. Each back on the know.n errors is a polar bear back thus reinforcing the fact it is an error not just a malfunction of the ink and printing plate as some believed before. You can see that the loop of the P and the R are noticeably different, the P is more squat or slimmer top to bottom, the loop in the R is more fat or elongated top to bottom so its obvious they used the P from the type set when this was printed and not the R. I've collected T-206's extensively for 35 years and from what I can tell there are only 2 maybe a 3rd example of this error out there making it probably the rarest error in the set. Some of the set errors were just printing flaws during the process, but this one is an actual type setting error making it much more limited and rare and purposeful as it wasn't fault of the process or ink, it was actual human error. One day this error will be recognized but for now it isn't "official" because they have not seen enough of them, which one would think would make this even more rare and valuable. I did see one documented sale at 10k a number of years ago.
