Description: This vintage sheet music titled "Three Negro Poems: De Glory Road". Originally written by Clement Wood this release is signed by the composer Jaques Wolfe, a Romanian musician who played music in the military and became infatuated with African American music when he transferred south in the 1920s. He would go on to collaborate with the likes of Langston Hughes and wrote the famous vaudeville song “Short’nin Bread.” It was one of three musical pieces that made up Three Negro Poems by Clement Wood on offer by G Schirmer in 1928. This copy was dedicated and signed in 1931 by Jacques Wolfe to Alexandre Akimoff, a Russian opera singer who dabbled in African American spirituals and traditional songs. This extremely rare find is an amazing insight into one musician’s opinion of another and is a must-have for collectors of vintage and antique sheet music, which will make a great addition to any music collection!
