This tool fits over your 2.717 dust caps and catches the lip of the cap so during installation you are not hitting the top of the dust cap and risk denting or bending it. The 2.717 inch size accomodates standard and accu lube style grease caps on trailers with 8 Lug trailer hubs or brake drums. Removing is just as simple as just sliding over your dust cap and with the hammer knock the handle up and down to wiggle the dust cap out. No more pliers crushing the edges of the dust caps. Certain Trailer dust caps are manufactuer without 90 degree edge, but they are rounded and slope gradually. This tool will not work on those dust caps.
